About GO Help Haiti
News reports continue to come from Haiti regarding the 7.0 earthquake which occurred yesterday afternoon. We, with the rest of the world, want to make a response to ease the suffering of the Haitian people. Our emergency response includes the following phases:
Phase I: Pray.
Pray for the Haitian people. Also pray for those whose hearts are opened by this tragedy to continue to work for the Haitian people after this crisis in out of the headlines.
Phase II:
Assess and evaluate. We are partnering with mission organizations already present in Port-au-Prince. For the maximum benefit, we will begin by working with groups already on the ground. The most effective way to accomplish this is with a donation of funds. Your quick donation will enable us to purchase available supplies before they run out.
Phase III:
Mobilize existing resources. We will make available to our partners the resources that are currently on the island of Hispaniola. We will also support our national churches to maximize their outreach to their neighbors.
Phase IV:
Collect and organize. Once available supplies are depleted, people will be hungry and thirsty. Food and clean water are already an issue in Haiti in the best of times. When available resources are exhausted, we must be ready to furnish the aid that the Haitian people will need just to make it from day to day.
Phase V: Rebuild.
This tragedy has caused terrible devastation to the people of Haiti. Let’s take this opportunity to improve the standard of living for the Haitian communities that we help. We want to work for the long-term improvement of the infrastructure of the country. Our hope is to make possible a better life for those who have survived this experience.
