Update Janurary 20, 2010 - URGENT NEEDS AND CURRENT SITUATION. PLEASE READ

Update:

We are currently working with two mission organizations, Hands & Feet Project and Joy In Hope in Jacmel, Haiti.  Jacmel is a coastal community south of Port-au-Prince who suffered devastating damages and are not receiving any of the aid going through the capital.  Our shipments were the first the community had received.  The governor of the region is working with these two organizations to get the supplies to the people immediately.

We currently have warehouse space in the airport in Santiago, Dominican Republic and are able to purchase relief supplies in the Dominican and fly them directly to Jacmel, Haiti. To date, we have sent 36,100 lbs. of relief supplies. We are also working with the Dominican Navy and have a ship where we can send 40,000 tons of supplies to Jacmel via sea.

There is only a small window of opportunity for life for many of the survivors in Haiti and the need is great.  We are deeply grateful for the multitude of people who have contacted us wanting to provide financial resources, medicine and supplies. While we wish we could use all of the support so generously offered, we urgently need the following:

Financial Donations

The most important thing you can currently do is give financially and ask others to.  This is the quickest way for us to purchase supplies and get them where they are needed the most.  If you are with a church, please ask them to take up a special offering for G.O. Help Haiti this coming Sunday.  If you are with a business, please ask them to consider a donation or arrange a way for your co-workers to give.  If you have any questions or connections, please contact Jerry at Jerry.Woodcox@go-ministries.org.

We are deeply grateful for the multitude of people who have contacted us wanting to go to Haiti.  We are currently prioritizing only supplies going into aid the volunteers and doctors already on the field.  We do need volunteers to make phone calls to get donations and to receive and help organize the warehouse.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Eric Leach at eric.leach@go-ministries.org

In the meantime, please consider supporting the people of Haiti in any way you can, including:

  • PRAY.  Continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti and for God to continue to open doors for us to get them the aid they need.
  • FUNDRAISE.  Currently, our greatest need is financial support. Many of you have already donated to our relief effort, and we are grateful for your generosity. What we ask now is that you continue to fundraise in your communities. Haiti is in need of millions of dollars right now to meet the needs of the communities hardest hit by the earthquake.  Any and all support that will help us respond to the immediate needs.  You can donate here www.go-ministries.org.
